Today in the UK is known as Maundy Thursday, where historically Christians remember Jesus’ last supper. Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin word ‘mandatum’ meaning commandment. During the supper Jesus told his disciples to “love one another” (John 13 v 34), washed the disciples’ feet as an example of humility and gave them the first bread and wine of Holy Communion. Pray for all believers in Africa and across the globe who are unable to openly receive Holy Communion for fear of persecution. Pray that the Holy Spirit will encourage and bring joy to all believers today as they prepare for Easter Sunday in their hearts.
