“…I did my homestay with a couple called John and Esther. They moved from Moroto to a manyatta called Lotirir, where there is a young church, and where our team has been involved in weekly bible studies. John is the Church of Uganda lay reader for this area. Recently the village elders were trying to persuade members of the church, including John, to go to the local shrine where sacrifices were being offered. Some members of the church were persuaded to go with them. John has also had a witchdoctor visit him to try to convince him that sacrifices are good because they are in the bible. Please pray that this opposition would not cause confusion, but will strengthen the faith of local believers and give opportunities for sharing the hope that we have in Jesus as the final and only acceptable sacrifice for sin.”
