Pray for global mission

How should we pray for ourselves and others? Every day our staff, and the pastors and missionaries who join us, hear an opening prayer shaped by Luke 10:2. ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ We shape our prayers around this verse, to help us remain focused on the task we have been called to. Praying through scripture helps us to be shaped by God’s heart, to have our eyes opened to his work in the world and to be challenged to see how God has placed us to work out his purposes.

We know that when we pray God is not only moving our hearts wherever we are, but he is also directing people’s lives, shaping cultures, opening doors and equipping those he is calling. God’s sovereignty, power and might give us confidence to pray prayers that go beyond our understanding of the means to achieve them, or the cost to individuals and churches to see him fulfil them. Our prayers are to see God raise up people ready to cross-cultures and share the good news. So, let us pray through some of Scripture together to help us broaden our prayers, and move from our day-to-day concerns, to praying for God to reach our communities, churches and every nation.

Alan and Pauline Jordan serve with the Africa Inland Church in Nanyuki, northern Kenya. On Saturday 2nd August 2025 the first BTCP (Bible Training Course for Pastors) Graduation took place in Nanyuki, Kenya. Alan has taught this course in Nanyuki over the last two-and-a-half years, delivering over 500 hours of classroom instruction to Christian leaders from various church denominations. There were sixteen students who graduated with their certificate of completion. Also graduating were fifteen students with a certificate of completion from the teacher training course, which will enable them to teach the BTCP course to their own churches and people. They were trained by Edwin Ojodo, the BTCP coordinator in Kenya north. Pray for the graduates to put into practice all that they have learned and live fruitful and faithful lives in service of Jesus.

Pray for the 250,000 Ndengereko of Tanzania who live between the Ruvu and Rufigi Rivers on the southern coast of Tanzania.  Pray for the Ndengereko people to experience God powerfully at work in their lives, that they would not fear rejection from their community and that they would come under his lordship. Ask God to raise up bold Christian witnesses among the Ndengereko so that many would know his love for them and that he is the true Way. Pray for an AIM outreach team in the early stages of their work among the Ndengereko.

Pray that AIM will be relatable and inviting in all we do. Pray that the language we use would be warm and welcoming, encouraging others to join in the work, and that the way we communicate would create a sense of partnership and shared purpose. As we invite others to join in this extraordinary journey, pray we would be able to communicate clearly that AIM is made up of ordinary people, so we can convey that anyone, regardless of background or experience can engage in missions and that this would make serving or partnering with AIM accessible and invite participation.
