Sheona Chisholm

Sheona is AIM Europe’s Mission Advisor for Scotland which is a support based role.

Before joining Africa Inland Mission as a long term missionary in 2015, Sheona worked in nursing and midwifery for over 30 years. In 2016 she returned to the UK from serving on an AIM team in the Indian Ocean Islands, and studied at All Nations Christian College for a year. In that time, she was challenged to lay down her passion for maternal morbidity and mortality and instead be passionate about the gospel.

Sheona began serving with Africa Based Support (ABS) in Nairobi, Kenya in 2018. She started serving at ABS as Assistant Personnel Coordinator, and then as Personnel Coordinator.

Located in Nairobi, Kenya, ABS is a ministry of AIM. It exists to coordinate and provide essential support services to enhance the ministries of missionaries from AIM and several other like-minded organisations.

AIM and ABS place high value on caring for missionaries to ensure they are thriving in their cross-cultural life and ministry. Having people specifically working to provide this care is vital.

Sheona’s work with ABS was very varied, and she provided support for missionaries in a number of different areas. She provided administrative support and ensuring that systems and processes were followed.

Sheona returned to the UK in July 2020, and has now been appointed as AIM’s Mission Advisor for Scotland. As a member of the Mobilisation team, her principal responsibilities will be to promote the work of world mission, especially in raising the profile of AIM’s ministry. She will also encourage and advise those exploring getting involved in cross-cultural mission, as well as encourage others to support missionaries through praying and financial giving.

A lot of her role will involve building relationships with church leaders and potential AIM missionaries, wherever they are in their journey. Scotland has a long history of sending missionaries overseas, so Sheona hopes to be able to encourage churches and individuals to have a vision for reaching Africa’s unreached peoples, in Africa and beyond.

Pray that God will give Dirk the capacity to relieve his brother-in-law from his many administrative tasks at this difficult time and will rely on the Lord’s strength to continue in his role as Finance Officer for AIM Netherlands while supporting Loes and the family.

The EU Office Finance Team has a busy workload as annual deadlines draw nearer. Pray for each member of the team as they work hard to prepare all the statistics and reports they need to meet each deadline and support the financial responsibilities of AIM and manage the financial support of each of our missionaries.

Please pray for our next Into Africa online Event on March 9th. The event is for anyone feeling called to serve Christ in Africa and would like to know more about how AIM can support them in following that call. We’ll be sharing lots of interviews and stories, as well as offering opportunities for people to interact with missionaries. There will be the chance to hear from people in Africa, ask questions, and understand more of the realities of life on the mission field. Pray that God will draw those exploring their calling to book onto this event and that the Lord will bless all aspects of the planning, executing, and following up from this event. Interested? God of the big and the small

The Psalmist wrote ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him’ (Psalm 34:8). As Peter Root, AIM Europe’s Personnel Director, reflects how God was at work over his 13 year period in Mozambique (1993 – 2006), he shares, “I can only say, ‘the Lord is good’”.

Down to the details

‘Where other lords beside thee hold their unhindered sway, where forces that defied thee defy thee still today, with none to heed their crying for life and love and light, unnumbered souls are dying and pass into the night.’ I can’t sing that verse of Frank Houghton’s ‘Facing A Task Unfinished’ dry-eyed because of how it describes the millions of people in our world who are living and dying without hope…
