Short Term

Kerry Laffey is a short term missionary serving as a teacher at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. “During the evenings, I have got involved with different areas of school life and have loved spending time with different staff and students alike. One highlight is Thursday night ‘dorm cover.’ I spend these evenings supervising the 8th grade girls’ dorm whilst their dorm parents have a night off. There are 15 girls and they are so much fun! I spend time just hanging out with them and helping them with homework. We also have about half an hour of devotion time together – studying God’s word, praying for one another and discussing different topics which affect their lives. Again, this is a special time in the week and I love seeing the girls actively pursuing Christ in their lives. Thank God for the opportunity to spend time with students out of the classroom. For those st udents who are boarding, it is a real privilege to get alongside them, whether that’s during Sunday School, dorm cover, or in the cafeteria on a Sunday night. Please pray for opportunities to love students more. So many of their families are away on the mission field, and I know these students miss them and worry about them.”
