Short Term

Kerry Laffey has recently completed her short term missionary service as a teacher at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) in Kijabe, Kenya, and has been serving remotely from the UK since the end of March. “Having had a few months extra here has been a blessing in so many ways, but it is tinged with sadness as I wonder what those four months might have looked like had I stayed in Kenya. As you know I continued to teach my 5th grade class online and we wrapped up the term with one final zoom, across four different continents, complete with class awards and reminiscing with fun stories from the year… It was incredible to be a part of the work God is doing amongst the unreached people groups of Africa. One of my highlights was each morning I would pray with my class. Their families work in some remote parts of the continent and to hear their prayers for the gospel to be spread across the nations was so moving: their genuine love of one another and of Jesus at such a young age regularly challenged me in my own faith… Please do continue to pray for AIM, RVA and Kenya. All schools in Kenya will remain closed until January 2021 and Covid-19 cases on are the rise. Some missionaries have returned to their sending countries, others have stayed. Pray for those making decisions about what is best for their family to do over the coming weeks and months and for new staff members who are preparing to start working at RVA.”
