Pete & Libby Halestrap

A real joy and encouragement for us has always been our involvement in teaching and training, and it has been particularly exciting to see the new cohort of Family Medicine trainees beginning their specialist training. These motivated and servant-hearted individuals begin their time at the university itself before moving to their respective hospitals after Christmas. It was a real privilege and joy to meet with the new residents, along with their families and the university faculty, at a recent launch weekend… It was humbling to hear again some of the stories of these new residents, and to learn more about what motivated them to pursue further training in Family Medicine. Some of their accounts were touched with tragedy or sadness, others by sacrifice or disappointment. Each time we were struck by how committed they were to their subject and how they saw it as a way to take their medical skills to the poor and vulnerable, reaching out to those who needed their care the most. We are so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside these remarkable individuals, even for a short time, and look forward to seeing what God has in store for them in the coming years.” Praise God for these new trainees, for their commitment and servant-hearted compassion, and pray that they will be equipped well by their training.
