“Last Saturday I had to do something rather difficult. I had to fulfil a promise I had given to my mom years ago. She had asked me if I would preach at her funeral. Now the time had come. On August 15th we remembered her life and put her to rest. While I was preparing for this heavy task I asked God for wisdom. The night after I got the news about Mom’s passing, God gave me the thought of the Holy Spirit as comforter. Jesus, in John 14, prepared his disciples for his final goodbye. Our family would also say goodbye to our mother. ‘When the Holy Spirit comes to you, it is as if I myself come to you.’ Yet the Holy Spirit would never leave again. This is the deepest comfort ever – for all of us.”
