Dawn works to reach unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands with the gospel.
Dawn’s platform ministry is working with mother-tongue language resources. Up until now this has mainly been teaching literacy and numeracy to women with little or no formal education. However, Dawn is actively involved in hands-on work in a strategy to get more biblical resources into Island languages in different media forms.

Dawn* works to bring the gospel to unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands. Overall, she has been encouraged by the local island church family meeting much more consistently than before. Pray for wisdom for the team in how much to lead, model and participate. Ask that their motivation will truly be a desire to learn together, and a growing hunger for the Word. Dawn has been particularly encouraged by the deepening relationship with Rachel’s* teenage daughter. She has been traumatised in the past and used to hide away, but is now happy to chat with Dawn as they do embroidery together. Dawn is also encouraged by language lessons with a Malagasy partner as she grows more confident in understanding and using the local language.

Dawn* works to bring the gospel to unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands. Give thanks for progress in the Bible translation project as drafts, audio recordings and apps have been finalised. Pray for Yvette*, her local language helper, that she will be convicted by the truth as they test epistles together. Pray too for Dawn’s relationship with Rachel’s* teenage daughter to grow as she does embroidery with her, and that the local church will maintain their momentum in meeting together.

Pray for the local believers to recover momentum in meeting regularly and that they will continue to grow together. Praise the Lord that despite shortages he continues to provide fuel when needed. Please pray for protection over people and equipment in the Bible translation project.

These beautiful tropical islands are 99.9% Muslim and for security reasons we refer to this area as the ‘Indian Ocean Islands’ rather than naming individual islands. Islam is deeply rooted on these islands and to be an islander is to be a Muslim. There are a small number of believers on each island but many follow Jesus secretly for fear of rejection and persecution.
