Dawn works to reach unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands with the gospel.
Dawn’s platform ministry is working with mother-tongue language resources. Up until now this has mainly been teaching literacy and numeracy to women with little or no formal education. However, Dawn is actively involved in hands-on work in a strategy to get more biblical resources into Island languages in different media forms.

Dawn* works to bring the gospel to unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands. Give thanks for progress in the Bible translation project as drafts, audio recordings and apps have been finalised. Pray for Yvette*, her local language helper, that she will be convicted by the truth as they test epistles together. Pray too for Dawn’s relationship with Rachel’s* teenage daughter to grow as she does embroidery with her, and that the local church will maintain their momentum in meeting together.

Pray for the local believers to recover momentum in meeting regularly and that they will continue to grow together. Praise the Lord that despite shortages he continues to provide fuel when needed. Dawn* works to bring the gospel to unreached peoples in the Indian Ocean Islands. Give thanks for all the interactions with island friends whilst a family member and friend were visiting. Thank the Lord for always providing fuel for her scooter just when she needs it and that the scooter has been working reliably. Praise the Lord that some of the local island believers have been meeting consistently as a church family. Ask the Lord to give Dawn wisdom for a good work routine, which also allows time for visits with longstanding village friends. Pray too that there would be an increased hunger for the Word among followers and seekers, and wisdom for the team as they share resources. Pray that Dawn’s laptop would keep working and that she would have a consistent schedule in finalising the translation of 1 Samuel, and testing other drafts.

These beautiful tropical islands are 99.9% Muslim and for security reasons we refer to this area as the ‘Indian Ocean Islands’ rather than naming individual islands. Islam is deeply rooted on these islands and to be an islander is to be a Muslim. There are a small number of believers on each island but many follow Jesus secretly for fear of rejection and persecution.
