Paul and Elizabeth Makau

Sent from The Full Gospel Church (AOG), Chadwell Heath

The Makau family have moved to Kenya to join the AIM team working at the Africa International University in Nairobi.

Paul and Elizabeth began serving with AIM at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi, Kenya in 2022. AIU is a private Christian university that offers Christ-centred leadership training to church leaders so that they can transform their communities. Both Paul and Elizabeth were involved in training, discipling and mentoring church leaders in the UK for a long time. Paul led the campus of a Bible College, and Elizabeth studied Christian Leadership and missional courses while working as a nurse in the NHS. They will using their knowledge, experience and skill to teach biblical, Christian leadership and missions subjects at AIU.

They are excited to be involved in training and equipping much-needed church leaders from different parts of Africa at AIU to equip them to preach the gospel to unreached people groups within the continent. They do this by identifying new missional communities, training leaders and supporting them during their training and accompanying them during their outreach activities.

Paul enjoys teaching the Bible and will continue running a weekly Bible study programme. Alongside her new role at AIU, Elizabeth hopes to continue one-to-one witnessing, evangelism and discipleship programmes and prayer. Their children Daniel and Grace have joined Rift Valley Academy, AIM’s school for missionary children.

Latest Prayer News

Paul and Elizabeth Makau are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. Praise the Lord for the successful mission trip in September to Lependera, which included the construction of a church building for the church plant, a visit by their sending church pastors, the church leaders in the Machakos Area committing to sustainable partnerships in sharing the gospel among Unreached People Groups (UPGs), and a fruitful free medical camp. Please pray for God’s provision as they trust to make AIC Lependera a mission base to launch gospel campaigns to other unreached villages. Ask the Lord to protect and grow the believers in Lependera and Marsabit as a whole. Pray too for the discipling program and the pastors in the area (Ngurunit, Siang’an, Namarei) as they work as a team to share the gospel in the many other unreached villages, as a lot of UPGs need to be reached.

Paul and Elizabeth Makau are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. They are about to lead a large team up to Lependera in northern Kenya, where they recently planted a church. Over 20 medical professionals from their church in Nairobi have volunteered to come with them to run a free medical clinic from 15th-16th. From the 17th local church leaders are also joining them to assess how they can plant churches in surrounding villages.  At the same time, different teams will be constructing a church building for the Lependera church and drilling a bore hole for the local community. Please pray for safety, good co-ordination, protection from the evil one, and much fruit from this trip.

Paul and Elizabeth Makau are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) Missions Department in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. AIC Machakos area has 1,038 strong church congregations and they invited AIM to conduct mission awareness seminars for two days. The Makaus were part of an AIM, AIU, and AIMAir team that taught over 800 pastors. Pray that the church will be mobilised to engage in mission among Unreached People Groups. Ask the Lord to stimulate interest for further training and deployment.

Kenya

Kenya gained independence from Britain in 1963. Since then British tourism has been a key element of Kenya’s economy, however, unemployment, poverty and crime remain high. Whilst the majority religion is Christianity, Kenya’s ethnic diversity and vast countryside means there are still many unreached with the gospel.
