Pray for global mission

How should we pray for ourselves and others? Every day our staff, and the pastors and missionaries who join us, hear an opening prayer shaped by Luke 10:2. ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ We shape our prayers around this verse, to help us remain focused on the task we have been called to. Praying through scripture helps us to be shaped by Godโ€™s heart, to have our eyes opened to his work in the world and to be challenged to see how God has placed us to work out his purposes.

We know that when we pray God is not only moving our hearts wherever we are, but he is also directing peopleโ€™s lives, shaping cultures, opening doors and equipping those he is calling. God’s sovereignty, power and might give us confidence to pray prayers that go beyond our understanding of the means to achieve them, or the cost to individuals and churches to see him fulfil them. Our prayers are to see God raise up people ready to cross-cultures and share the good news. So, let us pray through some of Scripture together to help us broaden our prayers, and move from our day-to-day concerns, to praying for God to reach our communities, churches and every nation.

Please pray for prospective Short Termer Zac, as he is looking to serve in Youth Sports Ministry in Tanzania for a year in 2026. Give thanks for a very positive meeting with his church leader last month and pray for Zac as he prepares to serve, that the Lord will give him a team of faithful prayer and financial supporters.

Barry and Heather Mannย work with Growing Nations, an organisation based in Maphutseng, Lesotho, which shares Godโ€™s love through a focus on agricultural knowledge and training. Barry also serves as AIM Internationalโ€™s Crisis Consultant. Molula was a student at Growing Nations back in 2016/17. Shortly after graduating, she became a missionary herself in Cambodia, working with trafficked children who had no hope, teaching them about Godโ€™s love for them through Farming Godโ€™s Way. She is now back in Lesotho and has set up her own demonstration farm/training centre, where she is teaching her local community, particularly the young adults, how to practice Farming Godโ€™s Way. The journey has not been easy and she has faced resistance at times, but with Godโ€™s help, she has now been accepted by the community as they see the benefits that Farming Godโ€™s Way brings. As well as teaching practical skills, Molula is investing in the lives of the young people through weekly bible studies, providing the girls with a safe space to study after school, and she has also recently started a pre-school. Please pray for her as she continues to invest in the lives of others, pour out Godโ€™s love, and bring hope into the community.

Rebecca Welshย teaches chemistry and broader science at Rift Valley Academy (RVA), Kenya. Many of those Rebecca was closest to last year are no longer at RVA, so ask the Lord to provide good friendships and a real sense of community for Rebecca this year. Pray too for work visas as Rebeccaโ€™s and those of some other staff members still havenโ€™t been processed, which causes problems when travelling.
