Elle is part of a medical ministry team on the Indian Ocean Islands. Unfortunately, a source of health funding which used to finance training days offered by the team, and also subsidised consultations and treatments at the hospital, has come to an end. Before, consultations were free and patients/families were paying a little towards procedures, but now every consultation has to be paid for, and having a baby is very expensive. This has led to angry reactions and many long conversations with desperate parents. It is already having a knock-on effect of more home deliveries and out-of-hospital care, which can be dangerous, as people try to avoid the charges. Please pray for Elle and the team facing this situation, that they will have wisdom when working with patients, health workers and hospital administrators. A new medical insurance system is in the works, so please ask the Lord to introduce this soon so families can receive the care they need.
