Daily prayers

Pray that disciples will be made amongst African people in dependence on the grace and power of the Lord, in partnership with African churches, and with priority for unreached people groups.

Hannah is the Child Safety Officer for AIM and recently attended a conference and training course in Malaysia about developing a Child Safety programme. Praise God for this opportunity to think about how to develop policy and procedures in this area, and for the reminder that God cares even more about the safety of our children than we do and equips us to share in his mission. Hannah also teaches at a language school in Nairobi, and the English conversation club recently had great discussions on ‘Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.’ (John 15:13) and ‘God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ (Romans 5:8). Pray for her students as they ponder these truths. Over Easter, Hannah will begin as leader of a younger children’s Sunday school group. Ask the Lord to richly bless these relationships with the children, and to encourage her heart as she shares the good news.

Paul and Elizabeth are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. Praise God for the outreach that took place in February in two villages in Marsabit, north Kenya. The outreach included medical treatment, child vaccination, health education, training new believers on how to use audio Bibles, sharing the gospel, and distributing donated supplies. Together with two AIM Air pilots, they were also able to survey two airstrips with the goal of expanding them, so travel times can be drastically reduced – in one case, from a two-day road trip to an hour by plane. Please pray for this! They have recently enrolled a local Samburu trainee pastor (Nicholas) at Africa International University for a Diploma in Theology course. When he finishes, he will be able to pastor the Lependera church and share the gospel with his community. Ask the Lord to deepen Nicholas’ love for God and his Word during his studies, and to fan the flame of passion for reaching the lost.

David and Patricia are based in Arusha, Tanzania and are partnering with different churches and Christian organisations to see Christian radio stations set up across Tanzania. They have several projects planned for this year, one of which involves a new radio tower, which has recently been approved and can officially go on the air. Please pray for wisdom as they plan these projects. Pray too for seeds to be sown as Patricia teaches German to a small class at the international school. Praise God for the opportunities to come alongside those who are experiencing challenging situations and share the love of Christ. This is true of their housekeeper, who Patricia was able to give a Bible to recently. Please pray for her and her family, that God may work in their hearts and draw them to Himself as she hears him speak.

Katie and Daf recently returned from their medical elective at Kijabe Hospital. Praise God for the new friendships they formed, and for the opportunities they had to witness the love and power of the Lord in a new environment. Please pray for them as they reflect on what God has been saying to them and seek His guidance for their future.

Frank and Josie serve with Borderless, mentoring young men and helping at an English conversation class and a befriending programme. Praise God that the English Cafe has been able to start, though only a few students have been attending.  However, while watching their son play football one evening, they stumbled across a Sudanese Cup Final with about a thousand Sudanese in attendance. Frank made contact with their community leaders and gave them his contact details.  Please pray that this will lead to something.

Pray that the 300,000 Antakarana of Madagascar would have ears to hear the Good News in their own language as the gospel of Luke is currently being translated. An outreach team began serving amongst them on the island of Nosy Mitsio in November 2014. Praise God that as local believers have been inviting their friends and family to hear the gospel, He is adding to their number. Ask the Lord to strengthen and embolden these new believers to share the hope of Jesus with others.

Pray that the gospel will be proclaimed to African people in dependence on the grace and power of the Lord, in partnership with African churches, and with priority for unreached people groups.

Cees and Mirjam serve in Kotido, Uganda, to engage the Karimojong people for Christ. Despite the heat (and the energy it takes), wonderful things have happened in Kotido. Nine children’s workers/pastors who took the ‘Train the Trainer’ course with Mirjam received their certificates at the beginning of February. Here is a beautiful testimony from one of the students: “Halfway through the course, Mama Mirjam challenged me by asking what my deepest motivation was for participating and what my spiritual gifts are. Not everyone has the gift of teaching, after all. It made me think and pray. God confirmed very clearly through His Word that I could continue. I am a Karamojong, the first follower of Jesus in my family. I came to know the peace and joy found in my Saviour Jesus through a friend’s testimony. One of my brothers has also come to faith and now leads a “tree church” (a house church held under a tree). I hold the lowest level of education in the entire TTT group; thankfully, you don’t necessarily need a diploma in order to participate. Now I teach young people in my brother’s church, and I want to organise a training course for children’s workers together with another TTT student. Mama Mirjam is coaching that process and helping us with the preparations and the teaching. Together, we’re making great progress.” Praise God for the fruit he is bearing through this ministry and pray for more!
