Daily prayers
Please pray for the 15-18 million Mbororo of the Central African Republic and Chad. Often, because the Mbororo are nomadic and are traveling with livestock through other peoples’ lands, the local sentiment towards them is “Keep moving – don’t settle here!” Ask the Holy Spirit to stir the hearts of believers in Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic and South Sudan to see the Mbororo as their neighbours, and to show radical love.
Zac moved to Tanzania at the start of the year to do Youth Sports Ministry. In a recent outreach week, there was a glasses clinic which provided a free service, as well as biblical resources for people to take and read, with their new improved vision. One man called Ali, who Zac had the privilege of serving at this clinic, ended up giving his life to the Lord during the week and changed his name to Peter. When Zac saw him in the village, Peter was filled with immense joy and Zac later found out why! Please be praying for Peter; for protection, for guidance in his new life, and that he’d be a witness to many in the village.
Simon and Miriam are serving in Antananarivo, Madagascar, encouraging and equipping the Malagasy church for mission and reaching out to vulnerable women. Over the summer, they were invited to share at a youth camp with over 250 young people in attendance, to teach on the importance of mission in the church. The new Malagasy members, Petera and Francine, shared a testimony of their journey into missions and of the sacrifices they have had to make. Praise God for the close collaboration that was so evident between the different mission organisations represented, and the affection that they felt for one another. There was a unity of purpose as they aimed to envision and engage the young people with the Great Commission. Please pray for an important meeting this month with the mission arm of the Malagasy Baptist denomination, where they hope to be discussing with a local church about new outreach opportunities.
At our recent Autumn Conference, we heard about African mission agencies that the Lord is using to take the gospel to the nations. One such organisation is NEMA (Nigeria Evangelical Missions Association). Their vision is to mobilise 50,000 Great Commission advocates and train, send, and support 15,000 missionaries to reach 34 core Islamic countries located within one half of the 10/40 Window. Please pray for mission mobilisation in local churches, that congregations will move beyond occasional interest and become active sending communities through prayer, giving, discipleship, and intentional support for mission partners.
Today is the International Day of Sign Languages. Please pray for ministries and mission partners serving among people with special needs, that God will strengthen and equip them with wisdom, compassion, resources, and effective communication tools. Ask the Lord to open more doors for accessible discipleship, Scripture translation, sign language ministry, and inclusive Christian fellowship.
Rex and Ruby have served in a variety of creative access locations, seeking to share the gospel with those who have yet to hear it, and currently lead teams in sensitive countries. They have been facilitating a year-long leadership development cohort of thirteen emerging leaders of five nationalities, currently serving in five different countries in North Africa. This started in January with travel to North Africa and will conclude in November with a final five day in-person time together. Praise God for the opportunities Rex and Ruby have had to see young leaders grapple with challenging heart issues, seek the Spirit’s leading, and commit to walking more honestly and closely with Him. Another encouragement is that the Lord is bringing more workers to the harvest: fifteen adults have either arrived or are on their way in the next few months and seven others are seriously exploring whether they should move with their families to the field. Please pray that these men and women would continue to grow in their love and knowledge of God, know his guiding, and be used to disciple others.
Sunday l 20th September Please pray for the 183,000 M who live in the South-Eastern coastal area of Tanzania and for the village where Jesus-film outreach is taking place. Ask God to use every opportunity to communicate His love clearly, strengthen the local believers involved, and bring lasting spiritual fruit among this community. Praise the Lord that there have been new churches planted in 20 of the 70 unreached villages in the Kilwa District with people coming to faith and seeking baptism. Pray for the growth of these young congregations and for faithful leaders to disciple them.
