Daily prayers
Pray for the 25-36 million Amazigh who are found throughout North Africa, with large populations in the mountain and rural areas of Morocco and Algeria. Praise God that through Ramadan, new believers were gathering to listen to the Bible and pray together. They want to pass on what they are learning to their communities, and, as a result, more of the women in their villages have come to Christ. However, many continue seeking to be justified through the requirements of Islam. Please pray that believers will be courageous in their witness for Jesus, and that the Lord may bring many more to repentance and faith.
Please pray for Sudanese refugees in Egypt, as returning to Sudan remains dangerous amid conflict and famine, yet staying in Egypt feels increasingly unsafe. Ask the Lord to grant wisdom for families facing these painful decisions and for peace to come to Sudan. In all this, pray that many Sudanese would turn to Christ as their true refuge, receiving unshakable hope even when no earthly security exists.
Please pray for the local partners who travel to villages to share the gospel through the Jesus Film and personal ministry, among the Bara of Madagascar. Ask God to protect them, strengthen their health, and encourage their hearts as they serve. Pray for practical provision, including fuel and resources needed for travel between villages. Above all, pray that through their work many Bara people would come to salvation in Christ and that new believers would grow as disciples.
Ann works among an unreached people group in northern Chad. As a doctor, she has particularly focused on helping the mentally ill and epileptics. There is much prejudice and ignorance relating to these patients, even amongst medical staff. Ann will soon be returning to the UK for retirement, so please pray for opportunities to equip more staff to continue the work. One possibility is a training developed by the WHO, which will they hope will take place from the 20-24th April if they receive the funds. Please ask the Lord to provide the necessary funding, the right person to lead the training, and participants who have a heart to help the mentally ill and epileptics in that region. Praise God that a new church building has been built! Ask that the Lord would be pleased to add to the number of believers there, and that Ann may make the most of every opportunity to share the good news in these last few months.
Barry and Heather work with Growing Nations in Maphutseng, Lesotho. At the beginning of March was ‘Farming Quest’, a two-week training course to equip mission workers in how to use agriculture as a tool to share the gospel. Praise God that there were nine participants, three each from Botswana, Lesotho, and Zambia, all of whom had a calling to missions and were keen to learn different ways of sharing the gospel. Please pray that God will use what they have learned to further equip them for their future ministries. On 28th March there will be a US mission group spending six weeks at Growing Nations, learning about serving on the mission field, and living & working alongside the students; this will include a two-week home stay with them over Easter. Ask the Lord to multiply the fruit of these events, that all who visit will experience the love of Christ and that they will leave transformed and inspired.
Anthony and Matsepo serve in Kenya, training leaders and building relationships with unreached people groups. Praise God that Anthony has identified a new theology curriculum and the materials arrived in early March. Please pray for God’s guidance as Anthony works to get the materials approved and set plans in place to start facilitating it. The curriculum is designed by African theologians and looks good, though it still needs to go through several checks before Anthony would be able to start. Ask the Lord to continue opening doors for Anthony and Matsepo as they seek to build meaningful connections and strengthen existing partnerships.
Pray for the 40,000 Alagwa who live in the hills and mountains of central Tanzania. Ask the Lord to protect the Bible translation work among this community, and work in the hearts of the translators; the team often feel a lot of spiritual oppression, attack and discouragement. Praise God for N who says he would like to be baptised. Pray he would keep pressing passionately into Jesus, and not be swayed by attacks of fear, social pressure, or threats.
