Daily prayers
Pray for the 700,00 to 1 million Toposa of South Sudan. They are one of the largest groups in South Sudan, but are being marginalised by the government. They live in a dry, rugged land and raise cattle. They are often in conflict with other groups and raid cattle from across the Kenyan and Ugandan borders. Please pray for the people in Narus, South Sudan, which was recently attacked by rebels, and the local believers had run to villages for safety. Ask the Lord for his protection over civilians, leaders, and our missionary teams. Pray for comfort for families who are afraid and affected. Ask the Lord to use the disciples while in villages for His glory and the salvation of many.
Annette is the Personnel Officer in our Southern Africa Region office. She is currently co-leading the Personnel Department of the newly merged mobilising (MR) and receiving (RR) offices. As the 3-year merging process is progressing, the Personnel Officer on the MR side and Annette (on the RR) are working collaboratively to understand each other’s roles and support each other in finding ways they can care for and serve their members, department team, office, region and organisation more effectively and efficiently – in a manner that brings honour, glory and praise to God. As the Personnel Department, they are involved in caring for, supporting, managing, and helping members/family units from the point of enquiry all the way through to being placed on the field and returning/retiring from the field. Short-Term, TCK Care, Pastoral Care and Training & Development also fall under the Personnel Department. So pray for wisdom, patience and a fruitful merger.
Timo and Laura serve in Finland among the refugee population, sharing Jesus with them and equipping Christian refugees to reach out to fellow internationals and the Finns they live among. A light shining into the darkness is a great image for them as they feel the need for light as they dropped to over 20 hours of darkness per day over the Christmas season. Pray that the Lord will continue to lead and guide their leadership team on how to best continue to show and communicate the love of Christ with non-believers. Ask the Lord to touch the hearts of the people who are coming to their community on a regular basis. Pray that Timo and Laura will continue to walk humbly in dependence on the Lord, seeking His kingdom, wisdom and guidance continually.
Pablo* serves in West Africa, where he uses English teaching to develop relationships for the gospel. He is enjoying continuing to walk through Acts with ‘B’ and is astounded by how much his life resembles those of the apostles (4:1-22, for example). In November, despite being cut off from his family, he returned to his village to share the truth with them and through his fearless witness, his friend at the market where he works seems to have become a believer too. B is also now connected with the small community of local believers from his ethnic group, which has been a huge step in encouraging his young faith. Pray he’d be edified, and that his family’s hearts would open. Pray for Pablo as he has faced many challenges recently, including: pretty much everything in his flat breaking (fridge, toilet, fan, laptop, etc.); a robbery at the English Centre with expensive equipment stolen; and serious, harmful, and false rumours seeking to undermine their work and testimony there.
Barry and Heather Mann work with Growing Nations, an organisation based in Maphutseng, Lesotho, which shares God’s love through a focus on agricultural knowledge and training. Barry also serves as AIM International’s Crisis Consultant. Praise God that after 2 years of drought and poor crops, good spring rains have fallen across Lesotho, even in Maphutseng, the home of Growing Nations. The fields and vegetable garden have been prepared, seeds have been planted and have germinated, which is fantastic. Ask the Lord for the right amount of rain to continue throughout the season, with no damaging hail, to enable Growing Nations to be a showcase of Conservation Agriculture in Lesotho and to allow it to continue transforming lives both physically, through better harvests, and spiritually, through an increased knowledge of God’s love for each person who interacts with Growing Nations. Please also pray that Farming Quest 2026, a 2-week course to equip missionaries & church workers in Farming God’s Way, will proceed as planned from January 24–February 6, 2026. This is a great opportunity for people to come to Growing Nations and learn how agriculture can be used to share the gospel message in their ministry settings.
David Gray is a new missionary with AIM AIR based in Kenya. Pray that he will be able to sort all the paperwork to convert his South African pilot licence into a Kenyan one. He has recently taken on the role of Assistant Director of Operations in the team, so pray for wisdom and enabling as he grows into that role. He and his new wife, Lindsay, will be relocating to Uganda for the month of February to cover flight needs there.
Pray for the 1,140,000 Tanala of Madagascar who live near and in the forest of South East Madagascar in difficult-to-reach areas. Workers recently showed the Jesus Film in the villages of Midongy and Befotaka, and the reactions were incredible! The Bible stories became clear to many. Please pray for the new brothers and sisters in Christ that they would shine and remain firm. Following Jesus is not easy when families fear ancestral punishment, and sorcerers are not happy about more Christians.
