Sowing the good news among Africa’s unreached peoples
As the ground begins to warm and early seed is sown, we are reflecting on the priority Jesus gave: the Word must be sown.
Before the harvest, before there is fruit, before there is even growth, it all starts small: a seed, full of promise. Jesus’ parable of the sower shows generous sowing, patient waiting and a harvest only God can bring (Matthew 13:1–23; Mark 4:1–20; Luke 8:4–15).
The seed we sow is the gospel, the good news our world needs. Jesus said, ‘I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God…’ (Luke 4:43). Our good works must never replace the good news.
Sowing can feel costly and slow. Much happens beneath the surface as God works unseen: roots form, life takes hold, perseverance grows. Some fields have had little or no seed in the ground at all: places with few gospel witnesses, few churches and few chances to hear Jesus clearly. Without the gospel, people are still without Christ. That is why we keep sowing and why some must be sent (Romans 10:14–15).

Use this at church, in your small group or for your own reflection and prayer.
Sow with us...
Some will sow, some will water, some will reap, but it is God who brings the harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6–7). We invite you to join in the work of sowing, not as a spectator, but as a participant.
Pray
Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest (Luke 10:2). Pray for workers to step out in faith, to labour patiently and to speak of Jesus clearly.
Give
Give so that together we can send, support and strengthen workers establishing Christ-centred churches among Africa’s peoples and unreached diaspora communities. Your support helps nurture fragile first shoots into lasting discipleship until the harvest comes (Mark 4:29).
Go
Go as God calls you, across the street or across cultures, ready to speak of Jesus with humility and courage. If you are unsure where you fit, start small and talk to us.
If you are unsure where to start, talk to us. Pray as we take the gospel where it has not yet been sown and nurture those first shoots into lasting disciples and churches that plant churches, until the Lord returns. We thank God, that because of you, more people may hear Jesus’ name clearly.
