Phinehas and Deborah

Phinehas and Deborah are in a creative access location working with local believers to equip leaders, facilitate church planting and build gospel relationships. They are working primarily with three local tribes, reaching out to them with the message of Jesus.

They were called to serve in global mission in 2003 after serving in their home church for many years. They and their two teenage daughters love Jesus and are walking in His grace in response to His faithfulness to them over the years.

The challenges of their ministry include not only reaching out to the unreached with the gospel but also leading teaching and discipleship classes to help equip local church leaders to effectively lead, serve and plant churches in their home country.

Latest Prayer News

Hannah Jackson was part of a TIMO team in Tanzania and is now in the UK on Home Assignment before taking up her role in AIM’s Child Safeguarding Team in Kenya. Give thanks that she was able to finish well, say her goodbyes and organise the logistics to successfully return to the UK. Pray for Hannah as she processes her two and a half years in Tanzania and pray for those she has left behind among the Swahili and Wangindo peoples of Likawage. Give thanks that she has seen baptisms of new believers and had the privilege of seeing them discipled in her time there. Pray that God will continue to save souls in Likawage, and that Hannah will trust God in her next steps.

Pablo* serves in West Africa, where he continues to use English teaching as a door-opener for developing relationships for the gospel. Give thanks he had a refreshing time on holiday with his family. Pray for him as he prepares to take on the workload of a colleague who is leaving the English Centre later this year. Pray God will give Pablo peace and capacity as he prepares to take on a significant amount of work while also wanting to prioritise his time outside of teaching to building relationships for the gospel.

This Saturday 11th May, AIM will be hosting events the first of three Mission in Action events in Edinburgh, during which Bishop Philipo Mafuja Magwano from the Pwani diocese of the Africa Inland Church Tanzania (AICT) will share how AIM and churches in Tanzania have partnered together to further the gospel in that country. There is still time to book tickets to attend. Pray that even more people will want to hear more of how God is working through the AICT and will attend the event. Pray for God’s peace to be on Bishop Phillipo as he travels to the UK and prepares to speak.

Mat and Katy Linley are based in Kijabe, Kenya. Mat is AIM Southern Region’s Regional Administrative Officer (RAO), and Katy works as a Family Medicine Consultant at the AIC Kijabe Hospital. Pray for peace and endurance from the Holy Spirit for their daughter, Phoebe, as she sits her Advanced Placement (AP) exam (UK A Level equivalent) in Art History at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) today. Pray the same over their son Jonah as he sits his AP in Human Geography tomorrow, 7th May 2024 and his iGCSE English exam on Wednesday 8th May 2024. Give thanks for the work of RVA; AIM’s boarding school for the children of missionaries, that enables AIM workers to continue sharing the gospel in their unique locations, with the reassurance that their children can receive a quality, Christ-centred education.

On Monday 29th April 2024 Chris and Sarah Power woke up to the devastating news of a major flash flood and landslide wiping out settlements on the outskirts of Maai Mahiu, just down the hill from RVA’s (Rift Valley Academy) campus. This flooding caused massive destruction to livestock, homes and the loss of lives as reported by global news channels. Many of RVA’s Kenya staff are affected by the damage and have lost family members. This has shaken the RVA and Kijabe hospital community as over 50 people lost their lives, and the many missing are now presumed dead. Pray for the Kijabe and Maai Mahiu communities as they come to terms with the loss of lives and have to rebuild homes that were destroyed. Pray for rains to ease so that the recovery efforts can continue. Pray for the organisations trying to work together to provide aid – that it would be an effective, unified effort and pray for RVA staff and students as they rally around and support the community.

Creative Access

We use ‘Creative Access’ to refer to nations, areas or ministries where there is great hostility towards Christianity and where traditional ‘missionary work’ is not possible. Workers, therefore, need to be ‘creative’ in how they proclaim the liberating news of Jesus Christ. In North Africa alone, 200 million people from 472 unreached people groups are unreached with the gospel. That’s 200 million people unknowingly heading for a Christ-less eternity. LEARN MORE

We hope that our church development work with local African churches will lead them to be centres of hope and love that draw more people to Jesus. LEARN MORE
