Phinehas and Deborah

Phinehas and Deborah are in a creative access location working with local believers to equip leaders, facilitate church planting and build gospel relationships. They are working primarily with three local tribes, reaching out to them with the message of Jesus.

They were called to serve in global mission in 2003 after serving in their home church for many years. They and their two teenage daughters love Jesus and are walking in His grace in response to His faithfulness to them over the years.

The challenges of their ministry include not only reaching out to the unreached with the gospel but also leading teaching and discipleship classes to help equip local church leaders to effectively lead, serve and plant churches in their home country.

Latest Prayer News

The Antandroy people live in the extreme south of Madagascar.  The name Androy means “where there are thorns” and they have adapted to a very inhospitable environment, covered with thorny bush and experiencing frequent severe drought.  The Antandroy believe the blessings and curses of life come from their ancestors and by appeasing their ancestors, they can reap benefits. They acknowledge that there is a God, but they see Him as distant and inactive in their lives. Translation of the NT into the Antandroy language is progressing and is around 85% complete. All four gospels are available in print and audio and are being used in daily readings on local radio. Audio recordings of Acts and several epistles are also available, along with the Jesus Film. Pray that God would encourage the translation team as they work on the remaining books of the NT and that more Antandroy people would want to hear God’s word in their language and realise that this message of salvation is for them.

Claire is based in Chimoio, Mozambique, working with local churches in discipleship and leadership development. Praise God for an enthusiastic start to the new Discipleship course. Please pray for every student, that they will grasp the reality of who they are in God, be willing to pay the cost of true discipleship, and that they will determine to live their lives on mission with God.

Ruth* works on an Indian Ocean Island seeking to share the gospel with people who have never had it explained to them. She is having loads of little conversations at the minute, but none are going much further. Please ask that the Spirit would be working and that she would be led to people who want to know/study more. One recent opportunity came when she was belting out some worship songs in her room. The next day, her neighbour’s oldest daughter asked her why she sings, which gave an opportunity in front of several other people to share the good news about Jesus.

Hannah Jackson is the Assistant Child Safety Officer for AIM. She has been praying about how she might get involved with outreach to Muslims in Nairobi and recently attended an English conversation club. One of the conversation starters was, ‘What would you do if you knew you only had 24 hours left to live?’. Each of the young women in her group said something about praying to God for mercy and forgiveness, with a sense of panic. It was a stark reminder about how lost so many are, in fear and uncertainty. Pray that Hannah can build relationships that enable her to share the hope and confidence we can have in Christ alone.

Elle* is part of a medical ministry team on the Indian Ocean Islands. Praise the Lord for Ma Fiona*, who continues to open her heart to Jesus. Elle was recently reading the story of the paralysed man with her. This presents a challenge to those who only see Jesus as a prophet – to say he can forgive sin would be blasphemy. But, if he has power to heal, how can we say he doesn’t have power to forgive sin?! This does not seem to worry Ma Fiona* – she was happy to thank God for sending Jesus who can forgive us. Please pray on for her to gain a fuller picture of who Jesus is.

Creative Access

We use ‘Creative Access’ to refer to nations, areas or ministries where there is great hostility towards Christianity and where traditional ‘missionary work’ is not possible. Workers, therefore, need to be ‘creative’ in how they proclaim the liberating news of Jesus Christ. In North Africa alone, 200 million people from 472 unreached people groups are unreached with the gospel. That’s 200 million people unknowingly heading for a Christ-less eternity. LEARN MORE

We hope that our church development work with local African churches will lead them to be centres of hope and love that draw more people to Jesus. LEARN MORE
