Phinehas and Deborah

Phinehas and Deborah are in a creative access location working with local believers to equip leaders, facilitate church planting and build gospel relationships. They are working primarily with three local tribes, reaching out to them with the message of Jesus.

They were called to serve in global mission in 2003 after serving in their home church for many years. They and their two teenage daughters love Jesus and are walking in His grace in response to His faithfulness to them over the years.

The challenges of their ministry include not only reaching out to the unreached with the gospel but also leading teaching and discipleship classes to help equip local church leaders to effectively lead, serve and plant churches in their home country.

Latest Prayer News

Dave and Cristyn Wakefieldย have recently begun to serve at Moffat Bible College in Kijabe, Kenya. There are various staff members leaving over the next six months (for good reasons!) which leaves many holes in the timetable. Pray that new faculty would be able to join Moffat – both Kenyan nationals and missionaries. Cristyn is in the process of applying for a masters (online, part time) in transformational development at All Nations Christian College so that she will be able to teach some of the project management related courses offered at Moffat in the community health and development department. Please pray she completes the application and this endeavour bears fruit over the coming years!

Caroline Bellย partners with churches in Moroto,Uganda, to envision, equip, mobilise, and encourage believers to reach out to rural Karimojong communities with the gospel. Her friend, Nasur, continues to be an example of faith and perseverance in often challenging circumstances. A few years ago, she shared a desire to speak on the radio so that she could share the Word of God more widely. In 2023 she was able to participate in some relevant training and for many months after that she waited and prayed. Last September she was accepted as a volunteer at one of the stations. Shortly afterwards she became a member of staff. Now she is co-presenting a four-hour morning programme five days a week, and a Sunday evening programme for families, during which she is given freedom to share from the Bible on any topic relating to family life! Praise God for this door he has opened and pray for Nasur as she prepares and presents her messages.

Simon and Miriam Desboroughย are serving in Antananarivo, Madagascar, encouraging and equipping the Malagasy church for mission and reaching out to vulnerable women. Three of the vulnerable women continue to be committed to the three-month program and the team are making plans with at least two of them to start their own businesses. Itโ€™s a joy to hear of their growing interest in God and their growing self-worth and skills as they experience the holistic love of Jesus in word and action. At the end of March they are welcoming a placement student from All Nations Christian College to work with the programme for three weeks. She is a French/Malagasy young lady so pray for the reciprocal learning that will take place during this time and that it will be instrumental for her future.

Our Father in heaven, on your throne, reigning over Chad,

Hallowed be your name, you are worthy of the praise of the peoples of Chad,

The people of Chad are distressed and helpless, sheep without a shepherd.

Lord, send workers into the harvest field from outside Chad and from within its own church.

Lord, may these workers find refuge under your wings,

may your favour rest on your workers,

and establish the work of their hands.

Daily may your salvation be proclaimed, accomplishing your desires, and achieving your purposes

  • transforming the distressed to deliverance
  • transforming the helpless into hopeful
  • transforming and growing the flock to follow the shepherd.

Your kingdom come; your will be done in Chad as it is in heaven.

Kathleenย is a member of AIMโ€™s Borderless team, working with the African diaspora in Scotland. A few weeks ago, a young African lady attended one of the English Conversation Cafes and as Kathleen chatted with her, she discovered she was from Uganda. You should have seen her face as Kathleen greeted her in โ€œLugandaโ€ and welcomed her to Edinburgh. She was just bursting with joy. Pray that this relationship will prove spiritually fruitful. On Mondays Kathleen meets many African refugees and immigrants as she undertakes Parish Nursing. Please pray for good relationships and gospel conversations.

Creative Access

We use โ€˜Creative Accessโ€™ to refer to nations, areas or ministries where there is great hostility towards Christianity and where traditional โ€˜missionary workโ€™ is not possible. Workers, therefore, need to be โ€˜creativeโ€™ in how they proclaim the liberating news of Jesus Christ. In North Africa alone, 200 million people from 472 unreached people groups are unreached with the gospel. Thatโ€™s 200 million people unknowingly heading for a Christ-less eternity. LEARN MORE

We hope that our church development work with local African churches will lead them to be centres of hope and love that draw more people to Jesus. LEARN MORE
