Phinehas and Deborah

Phinehas and Deborah are in a creative access location working with local believers to equip leaders, facilitate church planting and build gospel relationships. They are working primarily with three local tribes, reaching out to them with the message of Jesus.

They were called to serve in global mission in 2003 after serving in their home church for many years. They and their two teenage daughters love Jesus and are walking in His grace in response to His faithfulness to them over the years.

The challenges of their ministry include not only reaching out to the unreached with the gospel but also leading teaching and discipleship classes to help equip local church leaders to effectively lead, serve and plant churches in their home country.

Pray for the 2.8 million living inย Muslim Unreached People Groups of the Nuba Mountainsย in Central Sudan. It is a remote and inaccessible area; traditionally a place of refuge for people fleeing oppression. The total population of the Nuba Mountain region is approximately 4.2 million. It is estimated that over a million Nuba are internally displaced; many have fled to neighbouring countries, others have permanently resettled in the North. Theย Nuba people are comprised of more than 90 different ethnic groups; of these, 60 remain Unreached and Unengaged. There has been enmity between Nuba peoples and the ruling Arab Sudanese for a long time. Reports are coming in about an outbreak of cholera in the Nuba Mountains as well as other parts of Sudan. The war in Sudan is worsening the humanitarian crisis and contributing to the spread of cholera. Pray for people suffering physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Lord, have mercy on the people of Sudan!

Obedient and Committed. Pray that AIMโ€™s voice would continue to be characterised by a strong commitment to sharing the gospel and serving among those who have not yet heard. Pray we would portray missions as a divine calling, underscoring reliance on Christ for our strength, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Ask that the language we use would highlight the need for obedience to God’s call and the transformative power of prayer for the work he calls us to. Pray that our work will be framed as a profound, lifelong journey rather than a simple task. Pray that as serving involves facing challenges and uncertainties, that AIM’s character would reflect a faithful endurance in pursuit of our ends.

Kathleen Quellmalzย serves in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with Safina Street Network; an outreach working with vulnerable children and young people. Today marks the 30thย anniversary since she set foot on Tanzanian soil for the first time. Itโ€™s also the date of Safinaโ€™s head office relocation from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, and the official installation of Adam as the new CEO and Nico as the Director of Ministry. Praise the Lord for his provision and work in and through Kathleen over these past 30 years and ask the Lordโ€™s blessing on this time of transition.

Barry and Heather Mannย work with Growing Nations, an organisation based in Maphutseng, Lesotho, which shares Godโ€™s love through a focus on agricultural knowledge and training. Please pray for the communities to which the students have returned after their training, that they will have receptive hearts and minds to the methods of Farming God’s Way and the gospel message that goes with it.ย Please pray too that the Lord will provide new opportunities and resources, to enable the Manns to continue serving with AIM and Growing Nations.

Kathleenย is a member of AIMโ€™s Borderless team, working with the African diaspora in Scotland. Pray for her in her weekly interactions. On Mondays, she does Parish Nursing at a church, sitting with clients, listening to their stories, signposting to other organisations, and offering health education. She also helps in the clothes bank, where she meets many African refugees/asylum seekers and has opportunities to welcome them. On Tuesdays, she spends time with an African lady and her little boy. They meet up at the church, have coffee together and practice English. Please pray for spiritual conversations. Kathleen then looks after the little one as his mother attends the English Conversation Cafรฉ. On Wednesdays, she often has coffee or goes for a walk with some ladies from the English Conversation Cafรฉ who want to continue learning English. Please pray for opportunities to share scriptural truths and to show Godโ€™s love. One lady recently invited Kathleen to her home to meet her family. On Thursdays, she attends another English Conversation Cafรฉ with many opportunities to meet people from โ€œunreachedโ€ areas around the world. Fridays are for study and preparation, and on Saturdays she attends two monthly prayer meetings. Praise the Lord for the incredible opportunity the church has to create a culture of welcome and hospitality for the many refugees and displaced people in our communities, and the unique and enormous missional opportunity to build relationships, and to share Godโ€™s love and mercy with people from all nations right on our doorsteps.

Creative Access

We use โ€˜Creative Accessโ€™ to refer to nations, areas or ministries where there is great hostility towards Christianity and where traditional โ€˜missionary workโ€™ is not possible. Workers, therefore, need to be โ€˜creativeโ€™ in how they proclaim the liberating news of Jesus Christ. In North Africa alone, 200 million people from 472 unreached people groups are unreached with the gospel. Thatโ€™s 200 million people unknowingly heading for a Christ-less eternity. LEARN MORE
