Phinehas and Deborah

Phinehas and Deborah are in a creative access location working with local believers to equip leaders, facilitate church planting and build gospel relationships. They are working primarily with three local tribes, reaching out to them with the message of Jesus.

They were called to serve in global mission in 2003 after serving in their home church for many years. They and their two teenage daughters love Jesus and are walking in His grace in response to His faithfulness to them over the years.

The challenges of their ministry include not only reaching out to the unreached with the gospel but also leading teaching and discipleship classes to help equip local church leaders to effectively lead, serve and plant churches in their home country.

We value continual learning, reflection, and creativity. The Lord does not change (Mal 3:6) but does new things (Is 43:19). Pray that faithfulness to him and his calling will lead all in AIM to grow, adapt, and innovate to fit our changing ministry contexts.

Jurgen and Katja Hofmannย serve in Madagascar, reaching out to the Tanala people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Malagasy Christians are being trained and mobilised to reach out in other areas of Madagascar. Jurgen hopes to be mentoring two groups who will travel to the remote village of Maroamboka. However, the poverty in Madagascar means it is very difficult for students to find financial support for training, travel and food. Pray that the Lord will provide.

Paul and Elizabeth Makauย are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) Missions Department in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. AIC Machakos area has 1,038 strong church congregations and they invited AIM to conduct mission awareness seminars for two days. The Makaus were part of an AIM, AIU, and AIMAir team that taught over 800 pastors. Pray that the church will be mobilised to engage in mission among Unreached People Groups. Ask the Lord to stimulate interest for further training and deployment.

Elle* is part of a medical ministry team on the Indian Ocean Islands. During Ramadan the two โ€˜seeker groupsโ€™ did not want to study much, but Elle had some good conversations with hospital staff. โ€œParticularly pray for Ba Ds* (the father of my friend Dorcas*), Obed*, who learnt a lot about our beliefs when he studied abroad and is at least open to discussion, and Hushai*, who asked for a copy of the Word in French and the local language.โ€ Please ask for fruit from these conversations. Whilst Elle can have informal chats with men at the hospital, she wouldnโ€™t be able to study with them at home unless their female relatives were also involved, so please ask either for interest from their families, or for her to be able to link them up with local brothers.โ€

Claudia Middendorfย serves the local church in Beira, Mozambique, in leadership training. She is working on several literature projects. She hopes to either translate and/or adjust existing biblical materials, or write new booklets that would be helpful for spiritual growth and understanding in the local churches, while also being affordable. Please pray for wisdom and discernment to follow Godโ€™s will in this.

Creative Access

We use โ€˜Creative Accessโ€™ to refer to nations, areas or ministries where there is great hostility towards Christianity and where traditional โ€˜missionary workโ€™ is not possible. Workers, therefore, need to be โ€˜creativeโ€™ in how they proclaim the liberating news of Jesus Christ. In North Africa alone, 200 million people from 472 unreached people groups are unreached with the gospel. Thatโ€™s 200 million people unknowingly heading for a Christ-less eternity. LEARN MORE
