Short Term – Karamoja Team

Background

The Karamoja Ministry Partnership (KAMP) is a partnership between AIM and two Ugandan missionary sending organizations (Global Link Afrika and Reaching Frontiers). Building on previous relationships with local churches, they have a long term team in Moroto town which is training and equipping local churches and Christians to take the gospel to their neighbors and out into the manyattas (villages) around Moroto District and beyond.

Vision and Strategy

KAMP’s vision in Karamoja is to partner with, and empower, biblically faithful local churches to raise and mobilise disciples who are disciples makers, with the goal of holistically reaching communities in Karamoja and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ministry and type of work

  • Training local believers in how to share the gospel and disciple others
  • Facilitating courses that share God’s heart for mission
  • Exploring possibilities for Theological Education by Extension as a way of equipping new leaders
  • Meeting with local church partners to encourage development of specific vision and strategies for reaching unreached communities.
  • Mapping of Moroto district (and other parts of the Karamoja region) to identify areas of greatest need
  • Development of contextualised gospel resources in local languages
  • Using professional skills to holistically share the gospel e.g. through health care, Farming God’s Way etc.

Bezara

These people came to my home and talked about Jesus and Lazarus. Lazarus was someone who wanted to see Jesus, and Jesus came to his home. My wife and I accepted Jesus as our Saviour. We gave the belongings of the spirits to be burned. We are free.

Uganda

80% of Uganda is engaged in agriculture. The healthy economy of the 1960s was crippled in 1972 by the expulsion of the Asian business community, and then virtually destroyed by tyranny and wars. It has steadily improved since 1992. Under previous government regimes there were restrictions on persecuted Christians, but there is now freedom of religion. LEARN MORE
