Background
The Karamoja Ministry Partnership (KAMP) is a partnership between AIM and two Ugandan missionary sending organizations (Global Link Afrika and Reaching Frontiers). Building on previous relationships with local churches, they have a long term team in Moroto town which is training and equipping local churches and Christians to take the gospel to their neighbors and out into the manyattas (villages) around Moroto District and beyond.
Vision and Strategy
KAMP’s vision in Karamoja is to partner with, and empower, biblically faithful local churches to raise and mobilise disciples who are disciples makers, with the goal of holistically reaching communities in Karamoja and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ministry and type of work
Short term missionaries will work alongside the KAMP team, helping them in their ministry, which includes:
- Mobilising and coordinating prayer for the unreached communities of Karamoja
To build relationships and friendships – initially through language contacts and neighbours. - Networking between different denominations and facilitating a forum where ideas and resources can be shared
- Training local believers in how to share the gospel and disciple others
- Facilitating courses that share God’s heart for mission
- Exploring possibilities for Theological Education by Extension as a way of equipping new leaders
- Meeting with local church partners to encourage development of specific vision and strategies for reaching unreached communities.
- Mapping of Moroto district (and other parts of the Karamoja region) to identify areas of greatest need
- Development of contextualised gospel resources in local languages
- Using professional skills to holistically share the gospel e.g. through health care, Farming God’s Way etc.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience of sharing the gospel and discipling others is required.
- Other cross-cultural experience is ideal, but not necessary.
- Training, qualifications or experience in theology, church administration, youth ministry, children’s ministry, business, healthcare, agriculture, counselling, and other areas is welcomed.
- Training in church planting, chronological Bible storying, or discovery Bible study is beneficial.

- Desire and abilty to work as part of a team and in partnership with the national church.
- Flexibility.
- Willingness to adopt a more simple lifestyle for the sake of sharing the gospel more effectively.
