Lyn Cooke from Brentwood Baptist Church is working in Arua, Uganda, discipling, supporting and encouraging the wives of church teachers.
Grace is a Church Teacher’s wife who has never attended school and found it very difficult being a role model and having a key position among the women in the parish. She has attended two of the workshops that Alice and myself have run. This has encouraged her in her ministry and enabled her to support the women in her congregation by starting a Bible study group and helping them build strong Christian families.

I have been working in Africa with AIM since 2006. For five and a half years I worked as the Central Region office manager in Kampala. In 2011 I moved to Arua to work with women. Initially I went there to set up a programme for Church Teachers’ wives with Alice. She had a vision to give them training so they could work in partnership with their husbands and be role models to the other ladies. This training continues and it has been encouraging to see an average of 50 – 60 ladies attending each time. From January this year I started teaching pastors’ wives in Old and New Testament at the theological college one day a week. It has been a real joy to see these ladies eager to learn more about God’s Word and looking forward to taking it back to their churches. After many challenges, in April Alice, myself and two other Ugandan ladies were able to start an Alpha course once a week in the women’s prison. It has been a blessing to see women whose future looks so hopeless being open to hear God’s Word. We will continue to visit weekly and support the women and run other courses in the future as the need arises.
