Prières quotidiennes
Ndengereko of Tanzania
Pray for the 250,000 Ndengereko of Tanzania who live between the Ruvu and Rufigi Rivers on the southern coast of Tanzania. Pray for the Ndengereko people to experience God powerfully at work in their lives, that they would not fear rejection from their community and that they would come under his lordship. Ask God to raise up bold Christian witnesses among the Ndengereko so that many would know his love for them and that he is the true Way. Pray for an AIM outreach team in the early stages of their work among the Ndengereko.
Relatable and Inviting
Pray that AIM will be relatable and inviting in all we do. Pray that the language we use would be warm and welcoming, encouraging others to join in the work, and that the way we communicate would create a sense of partnership and shared purpose. As we invite others to join in this extraordinary journey, pray we would be able to communicate clearly that AIM is made up of ordinary people, so we can convey that anyone, regardless of background or experience can engage in missions and that this would make serving or partnering with AIM accessible and invite participation.
Paul and Elizabeth Makau
Paul and Elizabeth Makau are teaching mission courses at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi and mobilising local church leaders to serve as missionaries among Unreached People Groups. They are about to lead a large team up to Lependera in northern Kenya, where they recently planted a church. Over 20 medical professionals from their church in Nairobi have volunteered to come with them to run a free medical clinic from 15th-16th. From the 17th local church leaders are also joining them to assess how they can plant churches in surrounding villages. At the same time, different teams will be constructing a church building for the Lependera church and drilling a bore hole for the local community. Please pray for safety, good co-ordination, protection from the evil one, and much fruit from this trip.
Claudia Middendorf
Claudia Middendorf serves the local church in Beira, Mozambique, in leadership training. She is getting ready to teach Bible Study Methods at the Bible school of her denomination this month. She hopes to keep it very practical so her students can apply what they learn to their personal lives and ministries. Pray for fruit from this.
Elle
Elle* is part of a medical ministry team on the Indian Ocean Islands. This month she is taking over as interim team leader as her colleague is on home assignment, so pray for wisdom during this time. She recently attended the wedding of a former language helper in the capital. It was a big and fancy wedding, but the bride and groom didn’t attend! Apparently they hope to have an even bigger, fancier wedding in the future, a ‘grand marriage’ that will give them special status on the islands. Some believe that this future wedding will only ‘count’ if the bride hasn’t attended events before, so she sat at home while everyone showed off their outfits and danced. This resonated when Elle* was studying David’s anointing with Stacey*, a local believer, and the wonderful truth that God looks at the heart. Stacey shared that there is a lot of emphasis within Islam and island culture to ‘look’ good, successful, rich. Pray that islanders would recognise the importance of having a heart that’s right with the Father, however we look to men. *Name changed for security reasons
Mat and Katy Linley
Mat and Katy Linley were based in Kijabe, Kenya, where Mat was the Assistant Superintendent at Rift Valley Academy and Katy was involved in Family Health Clinical Officer (FHCO) training at Kijabe Hospital. They are now on home assignment before completing their service with AIM at the end of the year. Do pray for them and their family in this big transition. Katy is hoping to get some GP work soon and is also exploring teaching opportunities. Mat has just completed his final assignment for a Masters degree in Risk, Crisis and Resilience Management. He still has to write his dissertation, but has also begun job hunting. Pray for wisdom and clear direction in that. Back in Kenya, a new cohort of FHCO students started yesterday (8 September). A*, due to join from the Nuba mountains of Sudan, is expected to be delayed due to paperwork problems, so please pray that this does not take long. Katy is hoping to return to Kijabe in December for graduation of those who finished earlier this year. *Name changed for security reasons
North Africa
Please pray for one of our affiliates travelling to North Africa for a short visit. She teaches remotely at a school and visits in-person regularly. The mission team there recently completed two days’ of outreach in the community before the start of the academic year. Please pray for fruit from that. Pray too for safe journeys for the travelling teacher, a good start to the new term with students and new colleagues, opportunity to re-connect and have meaningful conversations with local unbelievers, and help with a heavier teaching load this year.
Ndau of Mozambique
Pray for the 500,000 Ndau of Mozambique who live in the Zambezi Valley of Central Mozambique all the way to the coast, as well as in Zimbabwe. Please pray for the spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health of Pastors Mateus, Vancelho, Isaac, and Joaquim along with their families and all the congregations they look after. Ask the Lord for perseverance and provision for the needs of the communities struggling with hunger as times are very hard. Please continue to pray too for the youth, that the Lord would raise up a new generation of Christian leaders amongst the Ndau!
Creativity
Core Value: Creativity. We value continual learning, reflection, and creativity. The Lord does not change (Mal 3:6) but does new things (Is 43:19). Pray that faithfulness to Him and His calling will lead all in AIM to grow, adapt, and innovate to fit our changing ministry contexts.
