One of our Borderless workers, teaching English classes with women from North Africa, saw a recent lesson turn into an unexpected discussion about spiritual issues. Teaching the concept of ‘being scared of’ something, the (Muslim) women were asked to practise the phrase by giving a personal example. One woman said, ‘I am scared of going to Hell when I die.’  Every woman in the class nodded their head in agreement and a spontaneous discussion ensued. It was clear the women had no assurance about what would happen to them when they died and could only hope that God would decide their good deeds outweighed their bad ones. The workers gently spoke of their confidence about the future based not on what they could ever do themselves, but on what God has already done for them in the person of Jesus. Please pray that the women would reflect on this discussion and ask more questions about the assurance the workers have because of Jesus.
