Along with 300 million Africans, the Laarim people of South Sudan, are still waiting to hear the good news of Jesus. Last year, Andrew Wallace from Rayners Lane Baptist Church, joined Jacob Borgelt from the US in serving among them. Recently Andrew and Jacob had the joy of baptising some of the first Laarim believers. Andrew shares:
Go and make disciples
“To see him baptised, put great joy in my heart… he has been following Jesus faithfully for some time.”
These two young men, Lotao and Loboi, publicly declared their true and living faith in Christ Jesus by being baptised. Lotao has been my language helper for the last five months, and even in that time I have seen him grow so much in wisdom and understanding of God’s word. To see him baptised (albeit in an old oil drum), put great joy in my heart. I had only met Loboi once before his baptism last Wednesday but I know he has been following Jesus faithfully for some time. In sharing their testimonies, both recognised the influence of Jacob in instructing them in the word of God and helping them to understand what it means to follow Jesus. It was a delight for him to be able to baptise them together with Angelo Lowiyo, another Laarim believer.
