“A few weeks ago we joined Martin to celebrate the completion of his training as a hotel cook. I remember the time when we met him. He was selling peanuts at the harbour and lived in a small mud house with his grandparents … his parents and many of his relatives were already dead. In the beginning, it was difficult to help him. He often cut school and brought home poor grades. Finally, we decided to take him into one of our foster families. It continued to be difficult until the time when Martin experienced a life changing experience with Jesus. He suddenly blossomed, was motivated and interested. At his graduation ceremony he received an award for good leadership throughout his course of education and is now working as a cook in a 5-star Hotel in Dar es Salaam.”
