Ard & Carin de Leeuw

“We have been given the green light to use Bible stories in the spiritual growth of the children. This month we will start writing the first Bible stories to use at Smile Africa. Pray with us that we can write in a way relevant to this culture and that we will use the right words. There are a lot of traditional stories told from generation to generation. And this calls for discernment and sensitivity. For example, in a tribe, the “hero” is always last. If you’ve come across the temptation in the desert with Jesus, Satan appears last in the story. So here they see Satan as the “hero”. Another big challenge is to connect with the children (aged 0-18 years) and that the staff will feel ownership of the discipleship so that they are fully committed.”
