“The [Ebola] epidemic in and around Beni is still not under control. This is because there are people who don’t trust the treatment team, and they are hiding family members who get sick. Because they leave for other places, Ebola has been diagnosed not far south from Bunia. Here in Adi, we are on alert (and we have to wash our hands every time we come into or leave the hospital) and we had an Ebola scare a couple of weeks ago when a patient who had vomited blood came to the hospital. This patient was received as a probable case, just as we had learned in a training workshop. We were glad that it was a false alarm and not Ebola. Please pray for protection against Ebola and that the epidemic in North Kivu may be brought to a stop.”
