The Luders worked in AIM’s Southern Region Office in Johannesburg, South Africa. Pierre-Alain is the Regional Development Officer, and Emmanuelle is the Short Term Coordinator.
South Africa officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA), is the southernmost country in Africa. South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution’s recognition of 11 official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world.
They originally began serving with AIM on the Betroka Focus team in Madagascar, which ran from 2013 until 2015. They joined the Southern Region Office at the beginning of 2016. Pierre-Alain worked as the Regional Development Officer for Southern Region, supporting Unit Leaders in their responsibilities, especially in member placement, member care, and the training and development of leaders. They were also involved in working with missionaries’ children and AIM’s short term programme.
They finished serving with AIM at the end of 2018.

The Luders have recently returned from ministry in South Africa to Switzerland: “On August 4 we unloaded our bags (there were 12) in our new home in Aubonne…The apartment, on rue de Tavernier, is located in an old house (1687) and was given to us by friends from the church who moved to Rolle. For the record, it was when they were looking for an apartment for us that they found one that suited them perfectly. Our need for housing led them to decide to move, after they had first offered for us to come and live with them. God leads things in his own way and in his time. They even left us furniture, cooking utensils and beds that they had prepared for our arrival! However, we lacked a mattress. We call Pierre-Alain’s parents to ask them if they by any chance had a mattress they could lend us. We went to theirs and came back with 2 mattresses! We are truly surrounded by wonderful people led by a great God. Thank you!”

“My [visit to] Madagascar went very well…On Sunday morning I went with a missionary to a small village for worship. On the way back, when I mentioned the name of our pastor at Betroka (where we were 3 years earlier, 1800 km away – or 4 days journey – in the south of the island) the girl who was with us turned around and asked me to repeat the name. “Pastor Christophe, but I know him!” she told me, “He is here now!” I immediately asked him if it was possible to arrange a visit that we squeezed into the program before I left on Tuesday morning. I took the opportunity to put them in touch with the AIM family I was visiting and since then the relationship has developed. They now go to the church of Pastor Christophe and are very encouraged by his passion for Christ. Last week they gave their testimony in the service, mentioning that there were people who regularly prayed for Diego’s people. This was received with exclamations of joy and prayers of blessing for these supporters. And these people, you will meet them also around the throne of glory!”

They recently wrote with news from Lesotho; “three missionaries still in the mountains were confronted with a spiritual oppression linked to the season of the initiation of the shepherds. Several young shepherds who pass through this time of introduction to adulthood have professed faith following the discipleship of our Mission Partners. But during these weeks of initiation, young people are faced with terrible pressure, both human and spiritual, to conform to the path of ancestors. Pray with us that our Mission Partners may be protected and that these young people may resist by the Holy Spirit which is in them and that this is a powerful testimony among the other shepherds.”
