Teaching in Chad

Could you serve for a year or more to support ministries by teaching in Chad?

Background:

In 1987 AIM began work in Chad. Chad boasts 140 people groups of which many remain unreached.

Founded in 2010 by Africa Inland Mission, Wellspring Academy is a day school dedicated to providing quality education for the children of cross-cultural Christian workers serving in Chad.

Location:

N’Djamena, Chad

Ministry & Type of work:

Wellspring has about 30 children in grades 1 – 8. There are full-time teachers, teaching multi-grade classes.

Each teacher needs to be experienced, certified, and enthusiastic about the work God is doing in Chad. Cross-cultural experience and multi-grade teaching experience would both be helpful but are not essential.  Specific needs will depend on the need and rotation of full time workers.  There are two main aspects to this role: working at Wellspring Academy and supporting families who home school.

Opportunities outside of the school include teaching in Sunday school and teaching English to Chadians.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Teaching degree
  • At least one year’s teaching experience
  • Speaking and understanding French is an asset but not essential
  • Some administration skills
  • A flexible working attitude, with a sense of God’s call to serve others

Other Info:

Housing is provided on site

Duration: a full school year

Start date: as and when required by the School.  Please contact us for dates.

FAQS

Yes. Whether you go on a team assignment with other short termers, or an individual assignment, you will be part of a team once out on the field. Both teams and individuals will be placed within teams of long term workers and you will be a part of supporting their ongoing ministries.

Listen to one of our missionaries sharing about being a part of a team:

Yes, you must be a born-again Christian with an active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with AIM's statement of faith. AIM is an evangelical Christian mission agency. We work in partnership with the African church to reach Africa's unreached peoples with the good news of Jesus Christ, and to develop leaders for the fast-growing church.

The short term application process normally takes six months.
