Long term – Join a team to reach the Kanembu
We are looking for members to join a team focussing on developing Christ-centred churches among the Kanembu people of Chad. Serving in Massakory the team will use an existing cultural centre to teach English, French, sports or run health classes. Through these interactions with the community, the team will evangelise and mobilise local believers to reach out to the Kanembu.
Chad became independent from France in 1960. Since then, its politics have been characterised by violence, coups and insurgencies. It is a secular state with freedom of religion. Muslims are dominant in government, trade and the army, although they are only just the majority religion (approx 53%).
Experience (Required and Desired):
Required: Previous experience of evangelism, working cross culturally with those from a Muslim background.
Desired: Some French, experience of language learning
Personal Characteristics Required:
You will have a heart to share the gospel and a love for the lost. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills. You will be flexible and resilient.
