Hannah\u00a0is the Child Safety Officer for AIM and also serves on the Nairobi Outreach Team. Recently, Hannah attended a course on crisis management which proved to be very useful. It was surprising that most of the other attendees were Christians from, and serving in, nearby countries where it is very hard to be a Christian! This was both a challenge and encouragement to her; praise God for them. Hannah\u2019s English conversation class is going well and they have had good discussions about many things, including the Trinity. It is good that students continue to come, although attendance has been lower which may be because it is just once a week, and they get out of the routine of coming (previously they had a lesson every day)! For the next few weeks, it is ABO ( Africa Based Orientation ), which is the next orientation for new AIMers. Hannah will be doing her usual Child Safety training for adults and children. She has a lot on her plate at the moment, so please ask that the Lord will enable her to get all that she needs done in time.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pray for the 700,000 Islanders of the Indian Ocean, with large communities also found in France and Madagascar. Praise God that one of the Islanders, \u201cBarry\u201d now seems open and ready to place his faith in Jesus, after many years of hearing the gospel. However, his wife has become resistant to the gospel and has threatened him if he chooses to follow Christ. Please pray that God would continue drawing Barry to Himself, giving him courage to respond in faith. Also pray that the Holy Spirit would soften his wife\u2019s heart, open her eyes to the truth of the gospel, and lead her to saving faith in Jesus. May God unite them in Christ and transform their family through His grace.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ann\u00a0has just retired from her work among an unreached people group in northern Chad and hopes to use the coming months to share about her work before she finishes with AIM at the end of the year. \u00a0Before she left, she did see some encouragements in the local church\u2019s women\u2019s group, with more attending the meetings and a growing sense of community amongst those who came. Ann\u2019s departure was hard for them, coinciding with the departure of two other women. Please pray for them as they adjust to smaller numbers, and that the Lord would help them to persevere and multiply their numbers. \u00a0Ann also had an opportunity to present a four-hour seminar on mental illness for 50 pastors before she left. Many of them consider the mentally ill as demonised, untreatable and condemned to a life of being of no use to anyone. It was good to hear one pastor talking of how he now understood that they had been missing the treatable all these years. Sadly, there are only two people in the area equipped to help such patients. Please pray for Ann as she entrusts this ministry into the Lord\u2019s hands and seeks to be faithful to Him in a new season of life.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pablo\u00a0serves in West Africa, where he uses English teaching to develop relationships for the gospel. In his last update, he mentioned a nine-week class on \u2018Ethics\u2019 that he was about to teach. It went really well! As they discussed topics like the purpose of life, and objective \u2018good\u2019 and \u2018bad\u2019, Pablo regularly had guys coming to his house after, wanting to continue the discussions. Praise the Lord for the engagement of these students, and ask that He would continue to open doors for these conversations to go further. Sadly, all four of the local employees at the English Centre are stepping down this summer. It\u2019s hard for the team as they had developed such fun relationships with them over the years, which had brought incredible opportunities to share truth. It also leaves the team with a big dilemma about teachers for next year, and Pablo already has a heavy workload. Ask the Lord to provide more people who not only have a passion to teach but also to share their lives and faith with the students and staff.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Frank and Josie\u00a0serve with Borderless, mentoring young men and helping at an English conversation class and a befriending programme. Praise God for a good term at the English Caf\u00e9 with a consistent group, all of whom stayed back for an optional Bible Study. Three who are not believers are asking good questions. Frank has been meeting with young men at a local High School but will likely have a different group after the summer. Please pray for the Lord\u2019s leading to the right group to meet with after the summer. Josie has just finished at the school she has been working at all term. There are no permanent jobs on the horizon but there’s the possibility of a maternity cover at the same school starting later in the year. Please pray that the Lord would make it clear how He wants her to use her time, and that they would trust Him for provision.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ruth serves as AIM Care Manager at Tumaini Counselling Centre in Nairobi. She has now completed her first two years at Tumaini, out of a nine-year journey of long-term mission. \u00a0As she reflects on these years, she can see that it has truly been a journey marked by the hand of God. \u00a0Over these last four months, Ruth has been in the UK enjoying time with family, friends and supporters. Some of her highlights include being able to drink water straight from the tap, the long spring and summer evenings, streetlights and cat\u2019s eyes while driving, her mother\u2019s home-cooked meals and Cadbury’s chocolate! As she returns to Kenya, Tumaini will be welcoming two counselling interns to the team in August\/September. Please pray for Ruth and the team as they seek to support the next generation of counsellors, and that the interns will be richly blessed through their training. \u00a0Ask the Lord to give wisdom and grace as Ruth steps back into leadership responsibilities and is involved in offering counselling to attendees of the Africa Based Orientation training as they prepare to serve long term.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Rift Valley Academy (RVA) is AIM\u2019s boarding school in Kijabe, Kenya, which educates and disciples students from missionary families across Africa. A recent encouragement was shared by a member of the RVA Board. She said \u201cI\u2019m always moved to tears when I enter the doors of the Art Room at 6:30am and see it filled with students huddled in groups around their Bibles, discussing the Word of God and challenging each other, praying for one another, and growing in the wisdom that will carry them far beyond this campus one day. Last night was the final Sunday Night Live of the year, a worship night led by students. I found myself engulfed in a mosh pit of kids jumping and praising God as we sang with all our might.\u201d Praise the Lord for the work that He is doing in the hearts of the students at RVA and for the Christ- centred community there. Please pray for those who are graduating this term, that He will give them courage to step into what is next, and will keep them walking closely with Him.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pray for the 6,300 Ik people of Uganda, who are a small farming and hunting community based between the large Karamojong and Turkana pastoralist tribes. Praise God for the small local church in the community, and for the Bible translation work that has been started. Please pray that the church and translation team will strengthen and support each other well and that the small group of believers will be enabled to persevere despite the trials they face.\u00a0 Ask the Lord to build His church amongst the Ik.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
