This outline is designed to help you pull together different resources to create an engaging service focusing on cross-cultural mission and how God is at work. Feel free to use the different elements below in a way that is most helpful for your congregation and browse<\/i>\u00a0our <\/i>resources section<\/i><\/a>\u00a0for alternatives to swap in.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\r\n

What is this service\u00a0about?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Our world offers us\u00a0many different ideas about what\u00a0life is all about, where\u00a0we should look for the answers to the big questions\u00a0and\u00a0what we should hope in.\u00a0The sad truth is that\u00a0everything we look to and everything we hope for in this world\u00a0is empty. The life changing truth of the gospel is that Jesus, and only him, offers true hope.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

In this service\u00a0outline\u00a0we will\u00a0focus our eyes upon Jesus \u2013 particularly as we think about the living hope Peter speaks about in\u00a01 Peter 1:3-6.\u00a0We will be encouraged afresh to cast aside all our hopes in anything the world has to offer and put our hope fully in our wonderful saviour.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The videos, PowerPoint presentation,\u00a0songs\u00a0and children\u2019s activities this\u00a0service outline will also present the reality that millions of people across Africa have never had the chance to hear of this amazing hope. For many their lives are marked by a lack of hope \u2013 never knowing if they will\u00a0be accepted by their God despite diligently striving to\u00a0pray, fast and give alms.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

As part of the application of the sermon we will encourage\u00a0our listeners to consider their own walk with the Lord \u2013 has their faith grown dim? Have they lost hope?\u00a0We need to come to the cross once again and ask the Good Shepherd to meet us anew.\u00a0We will also consider our own communities and think about how Jesus is the only hope for them.\u00a0We will ask the Lord to help us keep praying,\u00a0loving\u00a0and sharing Jesus with\u00a0our community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Finally, we will recommend finishing the service with a wonderful video, W<\/em><\/span>alking<\/em> in Shadow<\/span><\/i>, that\u00a0pulls back the veil on what life looks like for those who have never heard of\u00a0beautiful hope in\u00a0Jesus\u00a0in Africa.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n
