Isabel served at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya for her medical elective from April to May. During her six weeks there, she spent time with both the General Surgery Department and the Internal Medicine Department. It was a steep and daunting learning curve, and at times the feeling of inadequacy was overwhelming, especially when she felt she was \u2018holding people\u2019s lives in her hands\u2019. However, the team was incredibly supportive. A significant part of the challenge was patients presenting later in the course of their illness, when complications had already developed, which sadly led to many patient deaths. The weight of pain and suffering, and the emotional toll that accompanied it, felt unbearable at times. It was during moments like this that she learned to bring her questions, doubts, and emotions to the Lord, as her ever-present help in times of need and the anchor of her soul, surrendering these burdens to Him time and time again. She was also deeply grateful for the opportunity to do this alongside other staff members.
