Background\u00a0<\/h2>\n

TIMO stands for Training in Ministry Outreach and is a model of team that brings together training and ministry. A new missionary joins a small,\u00a0<\/span>multi cultural<\/span>\u00a0team with experienced leaders and commits to living for two to three years in a particular outreach location. During those years they are trained for mission while simultaneously being involved in ministry among Africans. The goals of TIMO are summed up in its mission statement: \u2018Compelled by Christ\u2019s love for Africa\u2019s unreached people groups, TIMO trains gospel-centred teams from the global church to plant reproducing churches.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>his team will\u00a0be located\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0Belgium, reaching out to African immigrants and refugees.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Belgium is an increasingly diverse country. Cities are comprised of mixed Muslim people groups from Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Iran, and more. Team members will focus efforts on building relationships with these mixed Muslim people groups<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with a priority for African unreached peoples.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We want these people to encounter Christ and accept the gospel. They will grow in their personal relationship with Jesus and share their faith with others (Diaspora and Belgians.)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vision & Strategy\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Our vision for the Diaspora is that they will hear and fully understand the\u00a0<\/span>g<\/span>ood news<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>Christ. We pray that they will respond with\u00a0a complete\u00a0surrender. We desire that in response\u00a0<\/span>to h<\/span>is unconditional love, they will honour God in their daily li<\/span>ves<\/span>. We want to see them grow in a personal relation with\u00a0<\/span>h<\/span>im, in reading and understanding the Word.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We strive for them\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>find a place\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>in the body of Christ, where they can pray, encourage and study the word with other Christians.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We desire that the Holy Spirit\u00a0leads\u00a0them to the right place where they can be part of this body. Our desire is that they will share the\u00a0<\/span>g<\/span>ospel with their friends, family and neighbours. We want to support the Flemish churches in their\u00a0outreach\u00a0and we hope that the TIMO team will result in engaged Christians choosing long term or intensive ministry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The TIMO team will be\u00a0lead\u00a0by a couple who are already in Belgium, ministering to immigrants and refugees<\/span>\u00a0and working with local churches and organisations to identify opportunities for team members to\u00a0<\/span>volunteer and partner in outreach.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ministry & Type of Work\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

TIMO team members will be expected to spend at least 20 hours per week in language<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>learning\u00a0<\/span>(Dutch or French)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and cultural learning<\/span>, this will likely involve formal classes in language schools where there will also be opportunities to meet African immigrants also learning the language<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The team language will be English.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>All team members will be housed in multicultural\u00a0<\/span>neighbourhoods<\/span>\u00a0and will build relationships within these\u00a0<\/span>neighbourhoods<\/span>. As a team we\u00a0also will\u00a0organi<\/span>s<\/span>e outreach<\/span>\u00a0events for<\/span>\u00a0refugees and immigrants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>As team members may be living in different cities, some distance from one another (30-60 minutes<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>by train) each member will need to be self-motivated, both in terms of learning language and initiating ministry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every team member will spend a lot of time in building deep meaningful relationships with neighbours, friends, neighbourhood, shop owners, etc.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Within these relationships and in a one-on-one<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>way the gospel will be shared. We want to involve individuals from the local church so we can be an example to them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Besides this, every team member will do volunteer work within the partner\u00a0<\/span>churches and organisations<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In cooperation with other partner\u00a0organi<\/span>s<\/span>ations\u00a0we want to organi<\/span>s<\/span>e special outreach events like a sports week for neighbourhood kids,\u00a0<\/span>Holiday Clubs<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>mums’<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>groups<\/span>, etc.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>As a team we will contextuali<\/span>s<\/span>e our ministry efforts to those we are seeking to reach while maintaining our identity as Christians and relationship and ties to the local church.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Qualifications and Experience\u00a0<\/h2>\n

  • A degree or diploma of some sort is often required\u00a0<\/span>for visa purposes<\/span> depending on your nationality<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Some cross-cultural experience desirable<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • A heart for\u00a0refugee\u00a0and immigrant\u00a0peoples<\/span><\/li>\n
