Claire

Sent from New Life Church, Newcastle upon Tyne

Claire works with local churches in Chimoio, Mozambique, in the areas of discipleship, leadership development and envisioning for missions, to make disciples who will in turn make disciples.

She is passionate about mobilising the Mozambican church to fulfil the Great Commission. Using the Kairos Course as a primary tool, she longs to see the local church develop a global vision and a heart for the nations. She aims to build individual believers in their faith, and then equip and release them to be effective in making disciples, who will in turn make disciples.

Latest Prayer News

Please pray for AIM Mozambique as they are running a project to support Christian youth with scholarships to study at university level. To study at university level is very expensive and many young and able people would never be able to afford it. Give thanks for the encouragement of the positive examples some of their graduates give in their churches and work area. Please pray for more funds to be made available for this project to continue into the future.

Please pray for AIM’s workers in Mozambique. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide them in the many unplanned interactions with others they have every day. Pray that they would be sensitive to those they meet and be witnesses of God’s love, particularly now during Ramadan.

Claire is looking forward to Home Assignment in October. Please pray for her as she negotiates the rapidly-changing Covid-19 regulations for her journey and as she plans and prepares for the ministry to continue in her absence.

Please continue to pray for the conflict in northern Mozambique and an end to the violence and cruelty being suffered by its people. The Mozambican government has recently invited the USA to support its own forces involved in the conflict. Please pray that this will have a positive effect on the situation, and that all forces involved in trying to end the conflict will act for the good of Mozambicans who have already suffered so much.

Please pray for north-east Mozambique and the conflict between an Islamist insurgent group and the Mozambican security forces trying to contain it. BBC News reports that half a million people have been displaced by the extreme violence and live in refugee camps of tens or hundreds of thousands of people; towns have been under siege; and women and girls have been kidnapped. Pray that God would bring peace to the area and relief for the victims of this violence. Pray that Christians would courageously follow Jesus and know that God is with them in their suffering. Pray that the perpetrators would turn from their violent ways, and that even in this terrible situation many would find healing, peace and forgiveness in Christ.

Mozambique

Since independence from Portugal in 1975 Mozambique was battered by civil war, economic woes and famine. Since peace in 1992 though, the country has developed one of the world’s fastest growing economies. Many are still unreached with the gospel and 17% of the country practice Islam. LEARN MORE
